Congress is considering passing a new bill that will give a limited group of telemarketers the opportunity to call cell phones.
“Our company [Verizon] hasn’t taken a large stance on the act yet, as it was just recently introduced so there isn’t much public knowledge on its part yet,” Verizon Assistant Vice President of Internet and Technology, Link Hoewing, said.
Currently, it is illegal for businesses to use automatic dialing systems to reach cell phones, but this act could change that, allowing telemarketers to use random number generators to call cell phones.
